Tignes Travel - Flights

We recommend using Sky Scanner to search for your flights. It allows you to search from whichever airport is closest to you and finds you the cheapest flights to suit your needs.

Transfer Tignes

Chambery (1.5 hour Tignes transfer); SnowJet provide low cost air Tignes Travel as well as a small number of other airlines. (scheduled flights: flybe from Southampton or jet2 from Leeds-Bradfrod/Manchester).
Geneva (2.5 hours Tignes transfer); Most low cost airlines use Geneva and we recommend this airport for our guests. (scheduled flights: SnowJet British Airways, easyJet, flyglobespan, BA Connect, FirstChoice, Swiss, bmi baby, jet2).   
Lyon (St. Exupery) (2.5 hours Tignes transfer); Expensive Tignes transfers but some good flight deals available (scheduled flights: bmi, easyJet, Air France, BA Connect, bmi baby, British Airways).
Grenoble (2.5 hours Tignes transfer); Tignes transfers are not well established from Grenoble airport (scheduled flights: Ryanair, British Airways, FirstChoice).   
St. Etienne (3.5 hours Tignes transfer); Ryanair offer great deals to this Tignes airport but with further and more expensive Tignes transfers. A good choice if Geneva and Lyon flights are unavailable or overpriced (scheduled flights: Ryanair).
Turin, Italy (4 hours Tignes transfer); the tunnel tolls between France and Italy add to the cost of the Tignes transfer and during the Winter, the passes regularly close (scheduled flights: British Airways, easyJet, Ryanair, FirstChoice).

Top Tip: Sign up to the low cost airline websites as they will send you emails with lots of special offers and prices. They will also tell you what date they will release their prices winter season prices for next year so you can book early and save money!

Tignes Travel: Train Options

One of the better ways of getting to resort directly is by using the various different train services to Bourg Saint Maurice. (The local town, just 30 minutes from Tignes). Below is a list of options for your Tignes travel by rail.

Eurostar & overnight sleeper/TGV combination

London Waterloo to Paris is 3 hours and then you can either take an overnight sleeper, with your own bed, to arrive in Bourg St Maurice (30 minutes from the chalet) early the next morning (allowing you to get in an extra day or two on the mountain!), or you can take the TGV (high speed train) taking about 5 hours to Bourg St Maurice. To book or find out more information, visit www.raileurope.co.uk.

Coach

An extra day on the slopes is available if your Tignes travel is taken by coach. Go by Coach or Eurolines has multiple pick up points throughout the UK and is direct and cost effective.

Self-Drive

Tignes travel your own way! The great choice for extra luggage! Arrving by car allows you to have your own transport in resort, although we highly recommend that you carry snow chains and are an experienced alpine driver.

The route through France is mainly on the motorway, by-passing Paris. There are plenty of nice towns to stop in on the way down or up to stop off for a break. Please bare in mind that the French motorways have tolls.

Please note the Mont Blanc tunnel is closed in the winter.
