Tignes has a fantastic snow record. With recent seasons of reduced snowfall across Europe, people have been encouraged to choose resorts which are 'snow-sure' such as Tignes.
The 'snow-sure' - resort of Tignes is recognised as one of the most comprehensive resorts in Europe. Based in the Espace Killy region of France, Tignes is just a 20 minute ski to Val d'Isere, meaning you can ski both resorts easily in one day.
Skiing In Tignes
At an altitude of 2100m and over 300 km of marked pistes, ranging from green to black, Tignes really does have everything to offer. Not only this, but Tignes boasts extensive off piste which is easiy reached and can challenge both the beginner and experienced skier.
Tignes has a very efficient lift system, which includes 97 different lifts and 2 funicular railways which takes you up to the top of the Grande Motte glacier. In 1992 Tignes played host to the 'freesyle' event for the Winter Olympics. Now, Tignes has the fantastic 'Swatch Snowpark' where you can have a go on the Coca Cola zero Air Bag or have your jump filmed on camera then shown on the big screen at the bottom of the park. The local 6 man chair lift takes just 6 minutes to loop around and take you back to the top!
