activity options
All the activities displayed in the images are open to you - either in close proximity to the chalet or further afield. You choose the level of adrenalin that suits and we'll do our best to match it with what for most ends up being their most memorable activity of the holiday. From off-piste guiding to taking in the views on a horse drawn sled - we can book it for you with our activity specialist partners. Please contact us to discuss your requirements, ability level and pre-book.
Ski and Snowboard Lessons
Need to get back into the swing of things or never even seen skis before. Courses for all levels with patient and entertaining English speaking instructors.
"Peisey-Vallandry - extensive beginners slopes" -- The Independent.
"still one of the best places for novices"" -- The Guardian
"sufficient steep terrain to satisfy more advanced skiers and riders" -- The Telegrah
Mountain hosting
We love skiing and snowboarding with our guests and offer two days free on-piste hosting per week at no extra charge as part of your holiday . This is available for all skiers and snowboarders who can ski a red run with confidence and above. Our hosts know the slopes of Paradiski very well and we will help you to find the best snow and the quietest pistes. Best of all, when you ski and board with a host you learn where to go on the other days and never worry about finding a table for lunch. Advice on the best places to ski and snowboard, depending on the conditions and your ability, so that you waste none of your precious time...!
Ski and Snowboard Off-Piste and Backcountry Mountain Guiding
If you don't know much about the area our off-piste partners Snocool will make sure you see, and feel it all - safely and with a smile on your face! If Dan had a pound for every time a guest has said it was the highlight of their holiday, he wouldn't be Donald Trump but he wouldn't need to work anymore! There ís incredible access, either via lift or lift with short hike, to some of the best off-piste known to man. Take the legendary North face of the Bellecotte in La Plagne which throws you out into the same valley as Chalet Paradiski, the Aiguille Rouge, Les Deux Tetes and much more. Further afield, the resorts of Ste Foy and the espace killy hide many an off piste jewel - however with Chalet Paradiski being in the world's second largest ski area (with a total vertical drop of 63,187m, two peaks over 3,000m and two glaciers) it isn't necessary to go elsewhere by any means!
Our guiding courses are usually one to three days (but only a cheeky half day for the more advanced). Or, on the flipside a five day dawn to dusk course is avaialble for those wanting to ski or ride all day, every day. Speaking from our personal experience, these are Great (with a capital G!). After all, this is the primary reason you're on the mountain! All safety equipment (probes, shovels, transceiver) are provided and avalanche awareness and transceiver courses are available as is a professional video company to capture forever your most hair raising moments!
"Good terrain for all standards and abundant off-piste opportunities". Ski Club of GB "There is massive variety of off piste - from easy tree skiing all round Vallandry and 1600, to cliff hopping in the 'rock garden' around the Deux Tetes in 1600, to big, steep and scary from the top of the Aiguille Rouge" Natives Resort Review
Heliskiing
This really is the experience of a lifetime. With a price to match (180 Euros 1 drop / 250 for 2 drops. 3 drops are possible in one day). Very much weather dependant but when it works itís the best. It's illegal to be dropped off on a French summit so trips go from neighbouring La Rossiere which is half in France and half in Italy where they don't seem to care quite as much about the noise and people damage to the high altitude fauna and animal residents! Drop off in Italy, ski or board back into France. Depending on snow coverage first trips are usually mid Jan and can go right through to the end of the season.
Equipment Hire
Not an activity in and of itself but necessary none the less. There is a friendly local hire shop that we work with. Let us know your sizes and preferences and we will pre book your kit. Prices are reasonable, service is good and they have a selection of new stock at all levels.Contact us for a quote.
Freestyle
With 3 boarder cross courses, 4 snowparks and 1 half pipe thereís a lot to go at. Professional pipe and park competitions are regularly hosted. For NuSkool skiers and boarders the Snocool company offers "how to.. from basics to perfecting"" with sponsored pro riders on their books.
Telemark, Cross Country Skiing and other snow sports
Telemarking is gaining popularity all the time and by heck it's hard! You can learn this sport or maybe you want to get those legs really fit - with 153km of Cross Country Skiing courses you'll be Hulk Hogan by the time youíve finished!
Snowshoeing
The worlds quickest growing snowsport allows you to experience the mountain but with a lot less off-piste skiing skill or effort! In effect it's been compared to wearing tennis rackets on your feet but snowshoes actually wor kand keep you "afloat" where otherwise you would vertainly sink. This is a great activity for all different ages but unless you know where you are going it's best to take up one of the organised tours.
Husky sleigh rides
They are avaiable locally in a magnificent area of National Park through trees and stunning backdrops. Good fun and only as energetic as you want it to be.
Ski Doo
Or Moto Neige as the French call them. Exilhirating, scary but safe if youíre sensible. They can carry 1 or 2 people. Last year someone I know had a go with a cast on their broken leg so it really is open to anyone! You can also do it at night.
Helicopter, twinseater airplane and Microlight rides
If you think you've flown before - try these! If you like the nail-bitting stuff then flying in the equivalent of a cardboard box (with a hole for a door!) hanging from some techno paper and powered by a scooter engine, aka microlighting, is for you. If you want to experience the thrill and views available from a helicopter ride then you can take between 5 and 20 min. trips. A special 45 min trip takes you to the Mont Blanc and back. 5 mins is around £30 per person. You wont be bying the rounds in the pub that night if you do the Mont Blanc trip! If you want to combine a helicopter ride with some functionality why not take an airport trasnfer to the Lodge on your arrival, departuer or both! See something special.
Bob Cat / Bob Sleigh
La Plagne hosted the Bobsleigh Olympic run. It's a good course and many a record have been set on it. You can ride as a passenger in a Bobsleigh and you can even steer the BobCat! Despite sounding too "way out" it's actually a very popular activity.
Ice Driving
Experience the thrill of being a pillion passenger as one of Frances top rally drivers thrashes around an ice course. The closest thing to a funfair ride in the Alps. Alternatively learn how to drive BMW's or Subaru's with studded tyres on sheet ice. Very James Bond.
